The table below focuses on current routes where official programme information supports GMAT use by Indian applicants.

This is intentionally narrower than generic “GMAT colleges in India” lists.

A school accepting GMAT for foreign or NRI applicants does not automatically mean domestic Indian applicants can use GMAT for the same programme.

Where the 2027 Cycle Stands on October 3, 2026

Several applications are still open, but the deadlines do not follow one shared calendar.

Always confirm the live portal before submission.

1. ISB PGP

Duration: 12 months
Campuses: Hyderabad and Mohali
Work experience: minimum 24 months
Tests: GMAT or GRE

ISB's PGP is one of India's clearest GMAT-based routes for experienced professionals.

Current requirements include:

• recognised bachelor's degree or equivalent;
• at least 24 months of full-time work experience before enrolment;
• test-centre GMAT or GRE;
• TOEFL/IELTS where applicable.

ISB publishes no minimum GMAT or GRE score and says it has no preference between the two tests.

For the Class of 2028:

• Round 1: September 20, 2026 — closed
• Round 2: December 6, 2026
• Round 3: January 17, 2027

2. ISB PGP YL

Duration: 20 months
Campus: Hyderabad
Work experience: maximum 24 months
Tests: GMAT, GRE, or CAT

PGP YL is the most important change to the Indian GMAT landscape for early-career applicants.

The programme is designed for:

• final-year students;
• fresh graduates;
• candidates with up to 24 months of experience.

For the current Class of 2027–29 admissions cycle, ISB publishes:

• Round 1: December 20, 2026
• Round 2: February 15, 2027

PGP YL accepts GMAT, GRE, and CAT.

However, ISB's detailed test-validity section has lagged the new admissions cycle in parts of its website. Applicants should confirm the exact accepted CAT sitting and GMAT/GRE validity dates in the live 2027–29 application.

3. IIM Ahmedabad — MBA-PGPX

Duration: 1 year
Work experience: minimum 4 years
Minimum age: 25 as of March 31, 2027
Tests: GMAT or GRE

IIMA's official 2027–28 criteria require:

• bachelor's degree or equivalent;
• minimum 15 years of formal education;
• minimum age 25;
• valid GMAT or GRE;
• at least four years of full-time post-graduation work experience by March 31, 2027.

Only test-centre GMAT/GRE scores are accepted.

Current deadline

Round 2 closes November 23, 2026.

Applicants may apply only once across the two PGPX rounds.

4. IIM Bangalore — EPGP

Degree: MBA
Duration: 1 year, full-time residential
Work experience: minimum 5 years; preferably under 12
Tests: GMAT or GRE

IIMB requires:

• bachelor's degree meeting the academic threshold;
• at least five years of post-degree full-time work experience by March 31, 2027;
• valid GMAT or GRE;
• two online reference letters.

Online/home-based GMAT and GRE scores are not accepted for EPGP 2027.

IIMB says there is no fixed minimum GMAT score; competitiveness depends on the applicant pool.

5. IIM Calcutta — MBAEx

Duration: 1 year
Work experience: minimum 5 years
Test: GMAT

IIM Calcutta is one of the most specific programmes in this list.

Current 2027–28 eligibility includes:

• academic minimums at school and undergraduate level;
• five years of full-time professional experience after graduation by March 31, 2027;
• a valid GMAT from the school's accepted test window;
• minimum GMAT performance equivalent to the 50th percentile.

IIMC states that the percentile threshold applies to both the legacy and current GMAT.

It also reports that the previous enrolled batch averaged above the 85th percentile.

Minimum eligibility is therefore not the same as a competitive class benchmark.

6. IIM Lucknow — IPMX

7. IIM Indore — EPGP

Work experience: minimum 5 years
Tests: GMAT, GRE, or CAT

IIM Indore's 2027–28 EPGP accepts all three tests.

The current final-selection weights are:

• GMAT/GRE/CAT: 40%
• personal interview: 55%
• diversity factor: 5%

Work experience must be at least five years by the relevant phase's application deadline.

Deadlines

• Phase 1: October 31, 2026
• Phase 2: January 11, 2027

The programme is full-time and residential.

8. IIM Kozhikode — PGP-BL

Duration: approximately 1 year

It uses a shorter test-validity window than the GMAT's generic five-year validity.

Phase 3 closes November 20, 2026.

Classes are scheduled to begin in April 2027.

9. IIM Udaipur — One-Year MBA in GSCM and DEM

IIM Udaipur offers one-year, full-time residential MBA routes in:

• Global Supply Chain Management (GSCM);
• Digital Enterprise Management (DEM).

The current published eligibility material accepts:

• centre-based GMAT;
• centre-based GRE;
• CAT.

Its current page uses a 36-month work-experience requirement for the preceding intake.

However, the official site currently says:

Admissions for Academic Year 2027–28 — Start Dates to Be Announced Soon

So applicants targeting 2027–28 should not reuse the prior cycle's cutoff dates or deadlines.

Confirm the new work-experience reference date and application calendar when IIM Udaipur opens the cycle.

10. XLRI — PGDM (General Management)

Duration: 18 months
Work experience: minimum 3 years
Tests: GMAT, GRE, or XAT

XLRI's PGDM (GM) is designed for working professionals.

For the current intake, GMAT/GRE applicants need:

• bachelor's degree;
• minimum three years of managerial or supervisory experience;
• GMAT or GRE taken between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2026.

GMAT/GRE deadline

Applicants using GMAT/GRE can register until December 31, 2026.

XAT follows its own application calendar.

11. SPJIMR — PGPM

Duration: 18 months
Work experience: minimum 3 years
Tests: GMAT or CAT

SPJIMR's PGPM is an experienced-professional programme.

For the Class of 2027, applicants needed:

• at least three years of full-time experience at programme commencement;

The final application deadline was September 15, 2026, so the current Class of 2027 admissions window is closed.

12. SPJIMR — PGDM and PGDM (BM)

This is an important exception to the old “GMAT in India is only for executive/one-year programmes” rule.

For the 2027–29 intake, SPJIMR explicitly accepts GMAT from Indian applicants to:

14. Great Lakes — PGDM

For the 2027–29 intake, Great Lakes accepts:

• GMAT taken on or after January 1, 2024;
• CAT 2025/2026;
• XAT 2026/2027.

Applicants with less than 36 months of work experience by the programme's published reference date can apply.

Candidates around the 24–36 month range may qualify for both PGDM and PGPM and should compare the two programme models rather than simply choose the shorter one.

GMAT vs CAT for MBA Admissions in India

The right exam depends on your target list.

If your entire list consists of the flagship two-year IIM MBAs for domestic applicants, CAT remains the central route.

If your list includes ISB, IIM one-year MBAs, global MBAs, and GMAT-accepting private programmes, GMAT becomes much more useful.

What Is a Good GMAT Score for Indian MBA Programs?

There is no defensible universal rule such as:

“700+ for the best programmes.”

That advice was built around the previous GMAT scale.

The current GMAT uses 205–805.

The old GMAT used 200–800.

GMAC says the scores should not be compared directly.

Use three signals

Many programmes publish no GMAT minimum.

Are the IIM One-Year Programmes Executive MBAs?

The terminology is confusing.
